Interrogative adverb meaning: how, what, how about
1. Followed by verb + no/n
(may be replaced with the phrase dou yatte or dono you
ni shite)
それはどうするんですか。
Sore wa dou suru
n desu ka.
How shall I do it ?
駅までどう行くんですか。
Eki made dou iku n desu ka.
How can I go to the station?
2. Followed by desu
(may be replaced by the more polite word ikaga)
今日は気分はどうですか。
Kyou wa kibun wa dou desu ka.
How are you feeling today?
コーヒーでも一杯どうですか。
Kouhii demo
ippai dou desu ka.
How about a cup of coffee (or something)?
京都旅行はどうでしたか。
Kyouto ryokou wa dou deshita ka.
How did you like your trip to Kyoto?
それをやってみたらどうですか。
Sore o yatte
mitara dou desu ka?
How would it be if you try it? (Why don’t you try it?)
3. Used with the verb omou
この絵をどう思いますか。
Kono e o dou omoimasu ka.
